Offers glossary of suffixes to parcel numbers and their meaning within report, project identification number for specific highways, number of parcel, amount of appraised value by staff and independent, amount paid for parcel and whether negotiated or condemned. Mainly worksheets of Michigan Legislative Highway Study for determining needs of primary road (ASE-S1) and local road structure (ASF-C4); "M" routes studies of rural State Trunkline System (ASF-M1); cities over 5,000 population; urban State Trunkline System and major streets; United States routes as part of rural State Trunkline System, 1955. Includes correspondence, directives, and reports relating to needs, study, 1955; engineering report, 1955; and Northern Lakes Regional Study, 1938-1940. Forms offer identification, classification, basic problems, suggested solutions, traffic, character and cost of work to be done. Also includes 170 general highway maps, 24 1/2" x 18", from data obtained from Highway Planning Survey conducted in cooperation with United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of Public Roads, C1952-1954. Most are accompanied by supplemental sheets showing Federal Aid System, 1940 revised to 1957, 13" x 9 3/4", and tabulation of bids submitted. Arranged alphabetically by correspondent, name of county or municipality; and numerically by designation of road, i.e. U.S. 2 - U.S. 45.
